Timur Vladimirovich Gorokhov, b. 1948, is Obsidian's Chief Financial Officer, and one of the two founding partners of the organization. According to public records, he became a member of the KGB at a very early age, serving within the Internal Security Directorate. He was an active proponent of the suppression of ideological subversion, drafting State policies that authorized the active hunting, interrogation and "mitigation" of groups deemed to be enemies of the State.

After the Soviet Union's dissolution, he obtained a position within the Federal Security Service, eventually rising to be the Chief of Counterintelligence. He retired from the FSB in 1997, with the rank of General-Lieutenant.

The only other information known about Gorokhov is that he was given personal responsibility for the information delivered to the FSB by Aldrich Ames, a former CIA Counterintelligence officer. This information resulted in the execution of at least 25 Soviet citizens who were identified as CIA assets within Russia.
